Brisbane and The Gold Coast are team building event friendly cities.

Brisbane and Gold Coast team building

Using public spaces for team building events can be a genuine nightmare, but less so on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane.

Public parks are usually not the best locations to deliver team building, yet many clients insist on using them instead of hiring a private location.

In addition to having no control over who else may show up and interact with the teams, council approvals (which should always be obtained) can be an absolute nightmare of red tape depending upon the local council.  We have seen everything from a three-month processing time to Tweed Heads Shire Council literally asking for a full Development Application to be lodged for a 1-hour series of Survivor themed games in a park next to a Kingscliff Resort.  We found that pretty gobsmacking to be honest.

Most Sydney local authorities and the Sunshine Coast would be the least event friendly overall we have found, but thanks and congratulations go to Brisbane City Council and Gold Coast City Council for being by far the easiest two to work with for getting event approvals in public spaces.  They get it.  Corporate events deliver a lot of economic benefit to a region, and it just doesn’t make sense for the local council to impede their success.

Our advice to clients is to use private property wherever possible for their events to ensure maximum control over the environment and the least administrative headaches. Also, remember that whilst Brisbane and the Gold Coast are team building and event freindly cities, not all are.
