Every year, the Sabre team delivers engaging and impactful team-building programmes for clients in diverse locations across Australia and around the globe. Novel locations also help to add impact to porgrammes and events.
Since 1988, we have worked extensively in all of Australia’s capital cities, major metropolitan hubs, and a vast array of regional and tourism destinations.
From Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne in the East to Darwin, Adelaide, and Perth, we have facilitated high-quality team-building experiences in countless locations in between. Being based on Australia’s Gold Coast, naturally SE QLD is a focus for us, but getting further afield when clients need us is also a lot of fun for us.
Our international reach has taken us to Asia, the Pacific, the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. Recent engagements have seen us delivering customised team-building solutions in dynamic and culturally rich destinations such as Berlin, Cambridge (UK), Rome, and Port Moresby and Wewak in Papua New Guinea. Each new location presents an exciting blend of opportunities, challenges, and logistics, making every programme a unique adventure.
Working with a broad spectrum of organisations—including corporate enterprises, government bodies, defence forces, NGOs, and educational institutions—has provided us with invaluable insights into national and organisational cultures. The addition of Belbin theory and behavioural reports to our programmes further enriches the learning experience, ensuring teams not only collaborate effectively but also understand and leverage their strengths in a meaningful way.
The Psychological and Teaming Benefits of Novel Locations for Team Building
Choosing an unfamiliar or novel location for a team-building programme can significantly enhance the overall experience and its impact. Psychologically, new environments stimulate cognitive flexibility, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. When teams are taken out of their usual work settings and placed in fresh surroundings, they become more open to new ideas, perspectives, and ways of interacting with one another.
From a team dynamics perspective, unfamiliar locations create a level playing field. Without the hierarchy and habitual routines of the office, team members often engage more freely, communicate more openly, and collaborate with greater enthusiasm. Novel settings also encourage resilience, adaptability, and a sense of shared adventure—factors that strengthen team bonds and foster trust.
Additionally, exposure to different cultures, landscapes, and experiences broadens individuals’ perspectives and enhances cross-cultural communication skills. Whether navigating the historical streets of Rome or the tropical environment of Papua New Guinea, teams develop a deeper appreciation for diversity and a greater ability to work effectively in varying conditions. This immersive approach not only delivers immediate engagement and enjoyment but also translates into long-term improvements in workplace collaboration and performance.
